A story of the legendary founders of Ancient Rome, Romulus and Remus. Legend presents Romulus as the stronger, more powerful of the brothers, while Remus was more refined, focussed and elegant. We believe the twins’ characterise the distinctive and unique flavours and attributes of Shiraz from the twin valleys – the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley.
Tasting notes:
Deep garnet in colour with an alluring complexity of blackberry and red-cherry fruit aromas, with flickerings of forest-herbs and spice. The palate is equally interesting with balanced richness and concentration, finishing with a fresh and focused vibrancy. The 2020 Eden Valley vintage was one of the lowest yielding years on record, producing deeply coloured and flavoursome wines capable of maturing well for many years to come.
Reviews:
Platinum Medal & 97 points, Decanter World Wine Awards 2023
“A striking harmony of dried thyme, oregano and mace with sublime aromatic undertones of red fruit and liquorice. Rich and powerful with plenty of fleshy sweet fruit tumbling through to the long spicy finish. A great future ahead.”
93 points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
“Deep crimson in the glass, this is an intensely perfumed wine with notes of violet and jasmine over a base of plush blackberry and dark cherry fruits. Plentiful deep spices and hints of wild herbs, licorice and crème de cassis. Fine, tight tannin, bright acidity and a finish that shows notes of cedar, blackberry jam and black fruit pastilles.”
