Vibrant deep crimson with ruby hues. Fragrant cassis and crushed fresh herbs interwoven with subtle layers of dusty ripe tannins and earthy notes. Up front cassis and bay leaf flavours continue on the complex palate with rich, dark chocolate mingling with the smooth and silky tannin structure.

“The wine spent fourteen months maturing in new French oak. A crimson/maroon hue, the nose gives us dark berries, leather, cold tea, mulberries, and aniseed. This is a quality Cabernet, and fabulous value. The wine is quite classically varietal, with excellent balance and intensity maintained throughout. Exhibiting terrific focus supported by very fine tannins, this is a cracking drink now but will be better in two to three years and then drink well for a further decade.”

“A refined and elegant medium bodied cabernet from Frankland. Blackcurrant and leafy blackberry notes on the nose. The palate shows good varietal integrity with a mix of ironstone and red fruits with a balanced chalky firm tannin influence. The oak has been well-handled so as not to dominate in this lighter year.”

“An easy drinking and approachable red, set to just on medium weight, slinky in texture, bright in fruit under a sappy, splintery inflection of woodsy, oak spice. Oak is the mainstay here, it delivers a shaving foam-like texture to the palate, twiggy-bitter characters through the short finish. The palate drops the drinkability down from an attractive enough perfume. It feels like a wine missing some balance and pedigree.”
