Tasting notes:
In appearance, an opaque mulberry core softens to a thin crimson rim. The nose is blackberry with dark spice aromas too numerous to mention. The palate offers purple fruit with hints of refreshing rich aniseed and chocolate. The finish is long and refreshing."

Exquisitely ripe and plush opulent shiraz picked very ripe in this excellent season for Langhorne. The quality of fruit in this year was so good the decision was made to create a small volume single vineyard. Mix of toasty oak plummy spicy shiraz with a mocha and licorice element lifted with some dried herbs and sage push.

On opening, it presents aromas of ripe plum, blackberry jam, soy sauce, licorice and new leather. Opulent tannins, yet composed on the palate, it is a real sleepy giant. Structurally well integrated, the oak, alcohol and core of fruit are in sync. I selected a goat curry to pair — my favourite Indian dish. Matching a powerful wine with a full flavoured meal is not for the faint hearted but certainly it is for me. The earthy rustic textures of the naans on the side revealed a smoky edge in the wine. I enjoyed its complex finish as it kept coming back in waves of Christmas cake. The jasmine rice sweetened things up and worked as the counterbalance to an otherwise very intense experience. A hedonistic wine, set to make a big statement in the Australian wine landscape."
